The lightweight mast can be fully extended up to 65 feet in about one minute, with adjustable guy ropes to provide stability to the system in windy conditions.
The camera sits at the top of the mast and can be rotated through 360 degrees on a pan and tilt mechanism. The whole system is controlled from the ground.
The mast is far superior to alternative methods of taking aerial photographs, as it is not as affected by wind and other adverse weather conditions.
In 2006, the system was given a Business Award for its innovation and versatility.
